Yam plantain pottage also known as yam and plantain porridge. It is also called Asaro in Nigeria.

Some people prefer to have the yam pottage on its own, but I prefer yam plantain pottage, some of my friends love it too.Β Β Β Β

There is this sweetness plantain gives to the yam pottage.
Some people don’t love to use Tomato, for their yam and plantain pottage, but i love too, because it makes it richer and tastier.Β

Some uses vegetables at end, some don’t, but I am part of the people that do.
You can decide to use ugu leaves, spinach or water leaves.feel free to add your preferred vegetables.Β Β Β Β

Β  If you don’t have yam,you can also use sweet potatoes for this recipe, Just make sure you don’t over cook the sweet potatoes, they are much softer than yam and they cook faster.

Β  When it’s fried you will know when the pepper reduces, and you can no longer taste the sourness of the tomatoes .
Add your stock or water leave to cook for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes stir together and Add the yam, cook until the yam is tender not soft, just tender. After that mash half of the yam.Add your plantain, your smoked prawns ,shrimp, smoked fish and your ugu leaves.Mix together and taste for seasoning adjust if necessary, cover and continue cooking for 5 minutes.

Ginger,Garlic And Tumeric.

Congratulations!!You are welcome to September, your month of Divine Progress. I will be sharing why I love using Ginger, Garlic and Tumeric for cooking and their benefits.

I love Ginger because of it benefits,it works wonders for digestive health and soothe an upset tummy.

Drinking ginger water add a natural glow to your skin,Moreover the presence of vitamin A and C improves the texture of your hair.

It also clears your blood and has antibacterial properties that help in treating and preventing skin disease.

Ginger help control blood pressure.

Ginger also reduces cancer risk. Researchers have found that gingerol(an active compound in ginger)has cancer-fighting abilities.

So I mostly use ginger for myself,(yes for myself, not everyone loves the taste of ginger)whenever I prepare stew or for seasoning my chicken or my fish.

I love Garlic also.

I take Garlic very early in the morning with warm water.

Consuming garlic on a daily basis (in food or raw) helps to lower cholesterol levels. It also helps to purify your blood.

It prevents heart disease, but if you want to enjoy the benefits of garlic, it is imperative to consume garlic raw or semi-cooked to derive any of its benefits.

It also strengthens the immunity of the body against cancer and it is good for the skin and hair.

Taking Garlic is very good for the health.

Using tumeric to cook also is very good.

Tumeric is the spice that gives curry its yellow colour.

Tumeric lowers risk of having heart disease.

Tumeric can help prevent (And perhaps even treat)cancer.

I use turmeric for seasoning my chicken or fish.

It’s health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver. Mahatma Gandhi

I love using Ginger, Garlic, and Turmeric to cook because they are good for the health .

I will like to know in the comment section if you love using any of these to cook.😊I love reading your comments .πŸ˜ŠπŸ™‚

What Was The First Food You Tried Cooking? #foodislife

Let’s gist

The first food I tried making was eba.
My mom complained alot about me not being in the kitchen with her whenever she was cooking. I was always busy watching movies or chatting. I told her I will know how to cook when the time comes.😎

So this faithful day I came back from school hungry, my mom was not at home so she left 50 naira on the bed for me to spend for lunch.

When I saw the money on the bed I was angry because that money wouldn’t be enough for me,so I thought of making eba because we had egusi soup at home.(the way the egusi soup was looking at me ehn)πŸ˜‚

I went to a shop to get garri, 20 naira(1 cup)P.s: then a cup was 20 naira. I came back home happy because I want to make eba for the first time.
Then I boiled my water and in 2mins my hot water was ready.πŸ˜‚

Then I poured my hot water in a bowl,I don’t know if my brain forgot it was 20 naira garri I bought, or maybe my brain thought it was 200 naira. Unfortunately I didn’t eat that evening, because I made garri not eba😫
I realised the water was too much than the garri.

So tell me what was the first food you tried cooking ? How did it turn out to be?😁
